Capabilities
The strategic location of Thompson Metal Fab in the Portland-Vancouver metropolitan area gives the company a significant advantage in project transportation — whether that be by water, ground, rail or air.
Our facility is located on the Columbia River, a world-class waterway with easy access to the Pacific Ocean. Our barge-loading and dock facilities provide customers a convenient and efficient means of transportation for massive fabrications. This transportation method also lends itself to trans-ocean destinations.
Our facility has quick and easy access to the region’s interstate freeway system. Interstate 5 is just to our west and Interstate 205 just to our east.
A Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad spur comes along the north and south sides of our facility. Access to this railway not only allows for large deliveries of custom and mill materials, but provides yet another option for the delivery of completed projects and keeps TMF competitive outside of the Pacific Northwest. Railroad is a perfect alternate for heavier or multiple loads when barging to the job site is not an option. In comparision to trucking on the freeway system, the rail system is more forgiving to heavier loads.
Finally, TMF is just a 15-minute drive from Portland International Airport (PDX).
